A Candle Bright

I lit a candle bright today
For memories along the way
Of sisterhood allaying fears
Of laughter shared, and sometimes tears

For into every life must rain
Days where joy is marred by pain
And through it all perhaps we learn
That life is helping us discern

To be the very best we can
To love and help our fellow man
To leave the pain and scars behind
To reach ahead, perhaps to find

That all our memories and days
Were meant to grow us on the way
To knowing there is more to come
Beyond the days of setting suns

For each of us will share inside
The memories we sometimes hide
Then as we grow and learn to live
We also learn how to forgive

For those who've passed beyond this life
Those yet to come and sort through strife
For those before who paved the way
I lit a candle bright today
